This weekend was the 35th annual Bluegrass Festival in Darrington. What a treat!. Every year is beter than the previous one. One grand part of the festival is the children. They are FREE to run around and play on the grass. Children my meet up with some they met last year, and they may be there for the first time and instantly they make friends and are off. A Tie Dye Vendor provides hula hoops for them to use and use they do. They share like no other time. I have never seen children "fight" and "tussle" over anything. They share, run, jump, climb, sit on the grass, roll on the grass and crawl all over the rocks and logs. It is such a great thing to watch.
I have posted some pics of the festival. Various entertainers and the audience. It poured the rain on Fri and Sat. You would not believe how many people attended on Sat even with the torrential rains! Hat, umbrellas, plastic bags and blue tarps were all in order.
This year a new band named "Deadwood Revival" played. They were incredibly talented and high energy young people. Then Country Current was there once again. They are a bluegrass band in the Navy Band system. They are amazing! I enjoyed these two bands far more than the headliner bands from Nashville.
Enjoy the pictures and imagine the clean air, clean fun (no smoking or drinking on the grounds), children running all around, people of all ages enjoying the same event and it's all held in the most beautiful ampitheater in the nation!
It's a come as you are and sleep where you can kind of festival.
Can't remember these guys, think they had something to do with The Andy Giffith show.??
T'was a not so abnormal rainy weekend.
And the sun did shine. This is one of my favorite pictures from the weekend.
This group was amazing. "Deadwood Revival" The were on stage both Sat and Sun. I'm excited just found out they are going to be in a Arlington, about 30 miles from me (the town in which I work) on the 25th of Aug for their concert in the park. Yippee and it's free!!!

"Country Current" the US Navy bluegrass band. They're a real crowd pleaser., The dress whites don't hurt any either.
Father and Son arm in arm during "Country Current" singing "I'm Proud to Be an American"
Children are so free at the festival. They play so hard.
Experimented with camera settings. Didn't realize the filter would pick up he not so green grass. Was going for the yellow of the Hula Hoop while extracting the other colors. Poor child looks sickly. She played with the Hula Hoop for quite some time.
Barefoot, rubber boots and little girl shoes. Ya gotta love it!
