Funerals

I attended the funerals for both Sandy and Sally. Sandy's was a modern "Celebration of Life" held at a nice restaraunt in Edmonds, WA. Very nice gathering, but sad. Only one person spoke of any type of relationship with God. It was like Sandy was gone forever, with no hope of life after. But, that was Sandy.
Sally's was different. Held at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church in Stanwood, WA. That was a funeral. Ashes to ashes as she was cremated, which suprised me. I had no idea cremation was done by Catholics. But the service was beautiful, a litugy with the Eucharist being served. However, not being Catholic I could not partipate.
Sandy never spoke of a relationship with God in any manner. She attended the Catholic church as a child, but did not as an adult. Sally however, was very Irish Catholic and proud to be. She often spoke of her faith and her Celtic roots.
To experience the difference in the two funerals was an eye opener.
