Sad times again

This past weekend a wonderful lady from work passed away. Sandy was a nursing assistant and suffered a brain aneurysm about 2 years ago. She has been in rehab center, aware of everything yet unable to talk, walk or move at all. She was able to point to letters with a pointer held in her mouth. When visiting her she was still a kick in the pants. She possessed such a good sense of humor. My first introduction to her at work was when she snatched my supply cart and hid it. She was only 57 years old.

Then this evening a nurse form work passed away. She failed to show up to work today and her son went to her house. Found her on the floor, alert but not able to talk. He called the emergency crews and they took her to the hospital in Everett. From what I was told, she was able to speak and was telling the ER folks what to do. She died about 7 pm. That was a complete shock! She celebrated her 69th birthday on the 6th of Feb.

Tomorrow will be a difficult day at work. Our administrator phoned all department managers this evening to tell us what had happened. As we gather for our regular 9:30 am standup meeting there will be many tears shed. Sally was an absolute kick in the pants. No one ever needed to ask how she felt about an issue, she was more than willing to share her thoughts.

May God bless their souls and give them a peaceful journey to his presence.
